COLLINS MEANS QUALITY
"Once you commit to something, you have to do it 110 percent."
Collins' Five Steps to Quality Cleaning
- Train and agree with the cleaner what is to be done and how long it will take
- Provide the cleaners with the supplies and support they need
- Use quality control reviews to measure results and provide necessary performance critiques
- Discuss the results with the people responsible and gain their input
- Correct the negative and reward the positive
Pride in Appearance
As representatives of our clients in their buildings, we make every effort to ensure our staff reflects professionalism and cleanliness. The uniform is the outward representation of the quality within.
"The commitment Mr. Collins professes requires more than providing mere day-to-day custodial services. It means approaching an apparently cut- and-dried- process with creativity. It means ownership of client needs. It means constant watchfulness over quality."
Motivating Personnel
Discipline: Order breeds order. Every service-oriented business must have certain structures in place, and our associates must adhere to a strict standard of arriving for work on-time, calling in sick well before their shift begins and completing their duties on time.
Accountability: Before beginning a job our cleaners are given specific details about all aspects of the job. Their work is reviewed regularly by the on-site supervisor.
Teamwork: When discipline and motivation are in place, motivation efforts can move to the next level, that of being part of a team that counts on you. We identify common goals for our employees so that they each feel ownership of the quality we work so hard to achieve.
"Very often, you will see Mr. Collins walking around, checking the quality of the work himself, and that's an important, tangible sign that tenants like to see."
Safety
CBS, Inc. works very closely with our employees' labor representatives to accept our safety responsibilities outlined in the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970. We
- train to ensure that our employees' places of employment are free from recognized hazards
- instill in each employee compliance with all safety and health standards, rules, regulations and orders
- Conduct continuous inspections of equipment, electrical cords, cleaning materials, and protective gear
- train our employees to be eyes for the building management and report any unsafe conditions
The most important safety tool we utilize is education; through the use of videos obtained from OSHA, and with on-site education and training, we have instructed our associates in everything from reading labels to how to bend at the knees.
